NextXI
NextXI is our playable prototype that reframes football as eleven decisive duels per match. You run a club hub, set your formation, then face the opposition card by card—choosing when to attack, defend, or control the ball. Win the duel, score a goal. Between matches you earn coins, train your squad, sign trial and loan players, and watch contracts before they expire. Built for portrait screens and short sessions: Build your XI. Win the duel.

Build your XI. Win the duel.
NextXI is a mobile-style football experience that blends club management with fast, strategic card duels. You collect and develop players, set your formation, then fight through eleven head-to-head moments per match—picking who steps up and whether you lean on attacking power, defensive strength, or control on the ball. Between games you grow your club: earn coins, sign talent, upgrade starters in training, and chase short objectives as you learn the loop.
What it is
NextXI is a playable game prototype built around one idea: football as a series of decisive duels between player cards. Instead of running and passing in real time, each moment is a one-on-one contest between your card and theirs. Win the duel, score. Lose it, and momentum swings. The layout is portrait-first—club hub, squad screen, and live match all fit the kind of view you expect on a phone.
What you do as a player
Run your club
From a central hub you see your wallet, contract warnings, and quick paths into everything that matters between matches.
Build your squad
Pick a formation and fill eleven starters plus three substitutes. Players have positions—goalkeeper, defender, midfielder, forward—and wrong-role lineups hurt effectiveness, so choices matter.
Play the match
A full game is eleven duels—one per starter, each card used once. A coin toss sets the tone before the first duel. The player in the lead picks the contest type; the other side responds with the matching strength. Higher stat wins and puts a goal on the board. Swap substitutes a few times per match when you need a fresh option.
Grow over time
Wins earn coins and club experience. Spend resources on training for your permanent squad, or visit the contract market for trial, loan, and standard deals—with different lengths and costs. Objectives give short goals while you learn the loop.
Feel each match
Live commentary during play and a clear results screen after the final whistle make every game a small event—not just a score tally.
Why it’s interesting
Traditional football games demand reflexes and spatial awareness. NextXI asks for planning and reads: Which card do I play now? Do I lead with attack knowing they might counter with defense? When do I use the bench? The club layer means you’re curating a roster that gets slightly better—or thinner—over time, like a compressed season in quick sessions.
Where it stands today
A focused prototype with core match flow, squad building, save progression, a bot opponent, economy (contracts, training, market), and in-editor tools so designers can tune cards and economy without editing raw data files. End-to-end game design—from metagame loops to match feel—in one cohesive package.
